Rhyme Time is an interactive program consisting of various, fun skill-building activities such as rhymes, songs, bounces and more. The program incorporates musical instruments, scarves and parachutes. Also, you and your little one will be bonding and learning together while we make sure that this music-based education is well-rounded, age appropriate, and most importantly, fun! Afterwards, we will host an informal, brief play time. Older and younger siblings are welcome. Registration applies to the entire three-week session.

Grades 3-5. Explore the exciting world of crystal geodes! We'll learn the science behind the million-year crystallization process and use innovation to make a geode of our own to take-home.

Career planning is an essential first step for students planning to attend college, particularly for students still deciding on their career path. Proper career planning can help focus their college experience, minimize unnecessary student loan debt, facilitate on-time graduation, and be a stepping stone to a purposeful and prosperous career. This workshop outlines the career planning process for students, the expected outcomes, how a career plan can improve the student’s confidence in their future and even provides an overview of the financial side of college planning. This month's selection is The Extraordinary Life of an Ordinary Man by Paul Newman.

Join us to share stories, songs, rhymes, and crafts! This storytime is structured to focus on kindergarten readiness skills. Parent participation is encouraged. Registration applies to the entire three-week session. Older and younger siblings welcome, however we cannot guarantee supplies will be available for those siblings to participate in crafts! 

This storytime is designed for the participation of children with their caregiver. Classes, daycares, and other groups interested in attending a storytime should contact the library directly to arrange for a special visit.

This spring, let’s dive into the art of Koinobori as we create vibrant Japanese fish windsocks using the magic of paper.  Kids will design their own colorful masterpieces, adding a touch of spring joy.

Teens can be great at hiding unhealthy behaviors with technology, alcohol and marijuana, making it hard for parents to spot a problem. Licensed professional counselor Jill Wasserman will discuss the signs that teens may exhibit as they try to keep their habits a secret, and how to have the difficult conversations that lead to positive outcomes without conflict and avoidance.

Families with children can join us for a variety of stories, songs, rhymes and movement activities. We'll build early literacy skills while having fun! While all children are welcome, stories and activities are generally geared toward 3-7yrs old. Grown-ups are required to stay with children through the duration of the program. 

English language learners are invited to join us at the library to practice speaking and listening skills while making new friends in a casual, conversational atmosphere.

All levels are welcome.

The priority is to have fun and make new friends!

Parents and babies are invited to join us for this drop-in, unstructured open baby play. It is a perfect time to play and give baby an chance to interact with others while caregivers get to know one another. Stay for a just a few minutes or for the hour! This event is intended for children 0-2 and and their families. 

Spanish speakers and language students are welcome to join this friendly conversation club. 

A great way to meet friends, speak in Spanish, and share cultural activities.

Meets on the 1st Friday of each month.

If English is not your first language, join us at the library to practice your speaking and listening skills and improve your English vocabulary in a casual, relaxed atmosphere.

All levels and ages are welcome! Feel free to bring your kids along -- we will have crafts and games for them to play and make new friends! Teens (grades 6 - 12) meet in the library cafe.

Troy teens (6^th -12^th grade) who are working to improve their English language skills are invited to join us at the library to practice speaking and listening skills while making new friends in a fun, no-pressure atmosphere.

This program is limited to 25 attendees. Registration is required.

Teens who actively participate in helping each other improve English language conversation skills are eligible for one hour of volunteer credit.

Grades K-5. Help your child gain confidence and reading fluency by reading to a therapy dog! To get your full reading time, you must arrive on time and with a book. Registration required, space is limited. Registration MUST be done by a staff member. You may register for the Monday session OR the Saturday session.

TAB meetings are now back in person! If you would like to join TAB please email the Teen Services Librarian (Holly. Osentoski@troymi.gov). The Troy Public Library seeks young people to join the Teen Advisory Board. Board members will have exclusive opportunity to plan events and programs, suggest improvements to the Teen department, and to promote the library throughout the community.

Join us for songs, rhymes, fingerplays, stories, and fun! You only need to register once for the entire 3-week session. There is no registration deadline, so even if you don't register on time to come all 3 weeks, we'd still love to have you. Older and younger siblings are welcome.

Toddlertime is from 10:30-11:00. You are welcome to stay after 11:00 for a short informal playtime with other toddlers.

Learn the basics of Microsoft PowerPoint. Our presenter will use PowerPoint 2019, but the differences between most versions are minor.

Patrons are strongly encouraged to bring their own laptops. Laptops will be available if needed.

The average person experiences ‘wardrobe panic’ 36 times a year because they feel they have nothing to wear, yet we have closets full of clothing. Certified personal image and color consultant Annette Liyana will teach you a better way to build your personal wardrobe around a harmonious color palette, discuss the environmental and social impacts of fast fashion, and share ways to shop with sustainability in mind.
