Event Details
In May 1937, Ford Motor security personnel viciously attacked labor organizers and a women’s auxiliary from the United Automobile Workers outside the River Rouge factory in Dearborn, Michigan. Now labeled “The Battle of the Overpass,” this incident stands as a turning point in American labor history. Learn about the colorful characters involved in The Battle and its parallels to today’s labor movement through this inside look into the UAW’s official archives at Wayne State University. Presented by UAW Archivist Gavin Strassel.
Priority registration will be given to Troy Public Library card holders. If you do not have a TPL-issued library card, you can register without a card to be put on the Pending Waitlist. If there is space available one week before the program you will be moved to the main registration list and notified.
