Event Details
Families can join us at home to make this delicious vegetarian dish that originated in India! An adult must be present at all times during this program
Please visit the Youth Information Desk to pick up your supply kit. Kits contain the recipe, 1 tsp cumin seeds, 3 tsp cumin powder, 1 tsp garam masala, and 1 bay leaf. and are available while supplies last. 1 kit per family, but families can request 1 additional kit as the recipe serves 2.
You Will Also Need
- 2 tbsp cooking oil
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1 tsp garlic, finely chopped
- 1 tsp ginger, finely chopped
- 1 jalapeno, finely chopped (optional)
- ½ tsp turmeric
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 cup canned pureed tomatoes
- 2 ½ cups cooked chickpeas (canned is OK)
- ½ cup water
- Optional for serving: chopped cilantro, yogurt, rice, roti
- pot or pan with lid
- spoon for stirring
Do all chopping BEFORE the program begins.
