What was life really like for the People of the Three Fires – the Potawatomi, Ottawa, Ojibwa/Chippewa, Miami, and Huron tribes that lived in the land that would someday become Michigan? Teacher and naturalist Randy Baker will discuss the tribes’ daily lives, including which native plants were used for food and medicine, how stone and bone tools were made and used, clothing and transportation, and tribal hunting/cooking/food preservation techniques. Learn how the tribes’ lives changed over time, as well as how Michigan’s first inhabitants impact our lives as Americans today.
