Event Details
Over 6,600 ships have been lost on the Great Lakes since 1679. Without question, the best known is the last ship claimed by the angry waters of Lake Superior. On November 10, 1975, the 729 foot long Edmund Fitzgerald left Duluth for Detroit, but it would never arrive. Although no definitive cause has ever been determined for the loss of the ship and crew, this program will look at events as they unfolded and review the evidence and probable cause.
