Murder, She Wrote was a trailblazing "cozy" murder mystery series on television from 1984 to 1996. Its blend of suspense, comedy, internationalism, and small-town charm captivated a wide and varied audience. Its success on television came at the start of the "cozy" mystery craze in print literature, which today rivals romance publishing as one of the biggest genres. Bridget Kies, author of a new book about Murder, She Wrote, describes what led to the TV show's special blend of success and what impact it's had on books, television, and film mysteries today.
