Program Description

Event Details

Learn how to make apple crisp with Ms. Liat! This program is for all ages -- toddler through teen -- but an adult must be present. You will need to provide your own ingredients and kitchen tools, which are listed below. Please register only once per family, even if you have more than one child attending.

INGREDIENTS:

2 pounds of Golden Delicious apples, peeled, cored, and cut into 1-inch pieces

  • Please prepare the apples before the program. You don’t need to prepare or measure any other ingredients ahead of time.
  • If you’re not able to get Golden Delicious apples, you can use another crisp, sweet type of apple like Honeycrisp or Braeburn.

2/3 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup old-fashioned rolled oats (NOT quick oats)

1/4 cup packed light brown sugar

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

5 tablespoons unsalted butter

1/4 cup sugar

2 teaspoons cornstarch

1/8 teaspoon salt

KITCHEN TOOLS:

Large mixing bowl

Medium mixing bowl

Microwave-safe bowl and plate to melt the butter (or use a saucepan over the stove)

Rubber spatula

Fork

8-inch square baking dish

Oven mitts

Measuring cup and/or measuring scoops: any combination that will let you measure 1/4, 1/2, and 2/3 cup

If you’re using a measuring cup: 2 large spoons to scoop flour and oats into cup

If you’re using measuring scoops: knife to level off dry ingredients (or use the handle of a fork or spoon)

Measuring spoons: 1/8 teaspoon, 1/2 teaspoon, 1 teaspoon

For the butter, you’ll need either:

  • A knife to cut through the wrapped stick of butter
